Model-Based Definition (MBD)

Our Model-based definition (MBD) services can help make your product design ready for prototyping and production. We use your preferred 3D CAD platform to develop fully defined models of each component with geometric dimensioning, tolerancing, material specifications, and manufacturing notes. Model based definition applies dimensions and notes directly to the 3D model which improves communication between engineers and manufacturers and helps prevent the need for clarifications. With these models you can approach prototype shops or production suppliers to have your components manufactured. We also offer in-house services to oversee sourcing, quoting, prototyping, and production of your products.

Model-based definition CAD services also allows us to easily generate a bill of materials (BOM) for the entire assembly of your product. A bill of materials is a list of all the raw materials, sub-assemblies, intermediate assemblies, sub-components, parts, and the quantities of each. The bill of materials helps you stay organized and keep track of the production costs for your product as well as plan for product assembly and part warehousing.

Your manufacturer will only be able to deliver as quality of a product as your drawings dictate so its crucial for your drawings to be well defined and professionally developed.
